As the conference of party (COP27)on Environmental issues has recently concluded with positive note, Nobody can ignore the controversy related the Hesaraghatta Grassland in Karnataka.Whether to declare it as conservation reserve or not has been a bone of contention for the current government.
Hesaraghatta is spread over close to 5000 acre of land,it support some of the rarest form of vegetation, It helps in Carbon sequestration,by capturing the atmospheric carbon,It helps in recharging our ground water and hence ensuring water security.
A unique small insect named Nodus Meta sangwani was discovered from this Grassland,which was used to control Rhodes Grass scale infection in US.After going through all this how can one be so dicey in taking such an important decision.
One has to go for larger public interest
we can't sacrifice our future for such short term political gain by putting our future in trouble.Its high time to spread awareness among the masses, if we fail to protect it now we are miserably going to fail in future as well.
