MATERNAL MORTALITY RATIO IMPROVES

Maternal Mortality Ratio has significantly improved in India that too by 6 points. It has reached to 97/lakh live births, as per the special bulletin released by Registrar General Of India, earlier it was 103/lakh live births in 2017 -2019. This is a positive development as far the maternal health in India is concerned. With this India has achieved the target of National Health Policy target, which was set as MMR less than 100/lakh live births.

SDG has set the target MMR of 70/lakhs live birth by 2030,it will be a herculean task for developing country like India to tackle the twin problem of population boom ,increasing poverty and to simultaneously meet the target set by SDG.
