Maternal Mortality Ratio has significantly improved in India that too by 6 points. It has reached to 97/lakh live births, as per the special bulletin released by Registrar General Of India, earlier it was 103/lakh live births in 2017 -2019. This is a positive development as far the maternal health in India is concerned.With this India has achieved the target of National Health Policy target,which was set as MMR less than 100/lakh live births.
SDG has set the target MMR of 70/lakhs live birth by 2030,it will be a herculean task for developing country like India to tackle the twin problem of population boom ,increasing poverty and to simultaneously meet the target set by SDG.
