Mountains

Types:

a) Fold mountains are further divided into two types:

Young fold mountains: mountains with rugged relief and high conical peaks: eg Himalayan and Alps

Old fold mountains: Aravalli range in India
 Appalachian in North America and

Ural in Russia.

b) Block mountains

These mountains are formed by vertical displacement of land mass.

Rhine valley and vosges in Europe.

c) Volcanic mountains

These mountains are formed by deposition of volcanic activities.

Mt.kilimanjaro in Africa and Mt.Fujiyama in Japan.

Mauna kea (Hawaiian islands) in Pacific Ocean is an undersea mountain .

It is higher than Mount Everest being 10,205meters high.
